About Me
Biography
I am a well-rounded creative with over a decade of work experience in a variety of industries, always user-focused and communication-heavy. Even though I've been practicing UX methodology for years without realizing it, I never knew the field existed until 2020 when I moved to Huntsville, AL and enrolled in a UX Graduate Program at UAH, which I completed in December 2021. I love all aspects of UX. Research comes naturally to me, as I have a knack for cross-cultural communication. GUI is addictive and so much fun and Service Design is an area I excel in. I hope to learn animation soon and dream of one day being part of a video game design team. I am a Chattanooga, TN native, UTC & UAH alum. I am always seeking adventures, ogling at the world's beauty and pondering the mysteries of the universe with my spouse and our dog and cat. In my spare time, I enjoy art projects like physical/digital collaging, sketching, and photo/video editing, hiking, traveling, reading fantasy/sci-fi novels, catching up with friends, and playing video games (mainly Zelda).
My Work
Currently, I have produced UX/UI work for 3 companies outside of UAH (The University of Alabama in Huntsville), where I went to graduate school for UX. Although I am relatively new to the UX industry, I have been unknowingly practicing UX methodology throughout my entire professional career. For every job I have ever had, I have always, instinctively, prioritized the customer's experience and utilized their feedback to improve processes. I live and breathe UX - it's a reflex that I couldn't turn off even if I wanted to. My skillset is vast. I excel at customizing research, performance, and design structure to specific organizations within different industries, always from a user-oriented perspective. I work with engineers, designers, and beyond to research real users, and analyze that data to inform the design process, whether the product is physical, digital, or structural. Research comes naturally to me, especially given my background in Ethnographic Research (overall, I have had about 5 years of experience in research-oriented roles outside of Academia). For me, UX is more than a passion. It has shaped every aspect of my life in an overwhelmingly positive way. I finally found a career path where I can harness my empathic nature and improve processes and experiences on both sides of consumerism so that everyone wins! Currently, my goal is to continue developing my skillset in UX and UI Design through work that is helpful, meaningful, and makes a positive impact on the world.
